Julie Richards-Williams visits a 'warm and welcoming' place that has become a focal point for the community. We have more newsletters. I have passed the place many times on my way to the nearby highly popular Tweedmill Shopping Outlet, but always drove on as I thought it was merely a simple coffee shop, ideal for a quick pit stop before hitting the rails. This time however, my stepdaughter Karen and I decided to go there for lunch after some seasonal bargain hunting and discovered that the eatery is in fact a culinary gem and so much more besides. A daytime venue serving morning coffee, snacks, brunch and lunch, for the last l8 years it has been independently owned and run by Lowri Willliams, a charismatic Welsh speaker who loves meeting people and making them feel welcome. Originally from Cilcain near Mold , she believes her faith drew her to open what has become a very special venue in the historic city. The rest, as they say, is history. I had taken the precaution of booking and we were immediately shown to our corner table in the front room by Lowri, who greeted us like old friends although we had never met before. A few people were eating, drinking and making merry and the atmosphere was very convivial. Karen and I felt the tensions of the day melt away like morning mist as we took in our surroundings. Seating a total of 30 people, both rooms were full of character and perfectly in keeping with their Victorian heritage. Spotlessly clean with tiled floors, sturdy wooden tables and a mixture of chairs, there were even comfy settees to relax on.
