Stacy sparks

Stacey believes that in the emotional self we find our truth. She uses a collaborative and empowerment-based approach to help guide clients through the treatment process to discover self-awareness and to utilize self-acceptance to achieve therapeutic goals. Stacey prioritizes her spirituality, three adult children, and therapy clients in that order and her tenure as a professional counselor spans a total of 15 years. Stacey is a relational, integrative, collaborative, and holistic counselor who prides herself in the foundation of loving awareness that brought her into the practice of therapy. Stacey completed undergraduate study in Psychology at Purdue University while starting her career in mental health as a Psychiatric Technician at Wabash Valley Hospital. A few years after undergrad, she moved to the Chicago area to raise children and she completed her graduate study in Clinical Psychology at Roosevelt University. She went on to enjoy a long tenure in academia as a University Counselor and adjunct professor. She enjoys following her passions at North Shore Family Services and continues to be excited to share her expertise with clients as a dynamic clinical mental health practitioner. She directs the Chemistry Learning Assistant Program, which provides an experiential learning experience for 80 undergraduate students each semester, building their teaching and leadership skills and preparing them to assist general chemistry and organic chemistry students in the classroom. Her primary areas of research are textual studies, sound studies, and infrastructure studies as these concerns impact academic research, research libraries, and the creation of research tools and resources in Digital Humanities DH. Her project is about understanding Critical Race Theory and how it can help social workers understand that inequitable systems that marginalize people of color, lead to inequitable outcomes for the same people, and contribute to the oppression of other people with non-dominant identities.
