The kitchen is ceramic tile flooring with grout and it seems constantly in need of sweeping and wiping down as they make a sport of spilling food and drink all over it at every meal. The rest of the house is hardwood except for our rec room which is not-so-conveniently carpeted wall to wall in light coloured carpet. The carpet easily shows high traffic areas despite our best efforts to keep it clean. The hardwood is a lot easier to keep clean. A quick sweep or a quick go-over with a vacuum and all is well. Until the sunshine hits it and you can see the grime cleverly hiding. This machine is able to not only steam clean both hardwood and carpet but it is able to tackle other household surfaces to remove stubborn and set-in stains and even sanitizes. My kitchen floor is hard to clean because of the grout which generally requires a good scrubbing by hand but this machine cleans it easily as the steam is able to penetrate right down to the grout with the washable pad mopping it right up. It also features an easy to use detachable Lift-Away Steamer which allows you to steam any hard to reach surface by simply detaching it from the floor portion. It comes with a little squeegee attachment that I have found to be absolutely brilliant for washing my windows.
