Well my theory is about Steven, can he poof or die? So we've seen a lot of ways Steven's destiny trying to kill him, example: From the episode "Future Vision".

This kicks in when damage is done to their body that is not enough to poof the gem, but also too much for their system to leave unchecked. This does not apply to punctures as those injuries seem to heal almost instantaneously, but rather as a reaction to a hard impact from something like a punch.

As we have seen with typical gems, their light-based forms dissipate and they retreat to their gems. With Steven's case, on similar lines, here's what I think will happen:. His body will completely stop functioning, so he won't breathe, his heart won't pump blood etc. With regular humans, this can be considered as dead. His gem can be removed from his corspe and when he regenerates, he creates an entirely new body potentially starting over again as a baby. I know this is somewhere on the lines of Titan regeneration from AoT, but this is what I think.
