Strava flyby
Nothing loads when I click on Flybys on my activity. This has just started in the last few days, no change to my privacy settings, strava flyby, which are set to allow all. Go to Solution.
The new compare tool displays distance and elevation along your activity. Selected activities are projected onto your activity path along all sections where you traveled the same path. The colored circles show the projected positions of selected activities. Each colored line plots the time gaps between a selected activity and the main activity. Everyone has their mobile phone always available. Wouldn't it be great if I could check my flybys quickly and without a computer while I'm on the road? I commented on this as well. Also, users need to opt into showing up on FlyBys, so I've found it's not nearly as useful as it once was. In fact, I just checked the FlyBy of a group run I attended yesterday with at least forty to fifty runners - only one 1 other person besides myself showed up. I know that for some time now you have to actively agree to this function, but i would still find it useful to be able to do this in the app if i want to and not have to boot up a computer first. I would like to think that their could a modified version, where other people identified only as a dot with no name. I am aware of the privacy changes back in the days. I ike and support the opt in instead of opt out option. I am also aware that you will see less people on the flybys map because of this. But if I made a road bike trip with lots of other road bikers flying by I would like to have the chance to check the flybys in the app to give some kudos and "hellos" with out booting up my pc. I fully understand that both I and others must have explicitly agreed to this function. Thumbs up from me.
Hey presto! Interestingly the brutal murder of French woman Alexia Duval was partly solved by Strava. Wanna create comparison chart graphs just like I do for GPS, heart rate, strava flyby, power meters and more?
Strava has somewhat quietly turned off, for all users, the Flyby feature, after a tweet went viral during the last few days, based on privacy concerns. Users can re-enable it, but only if they knew it was disabled in the first place. With some 70 million users being disabled with the flick of a switch, the feature essentially becomes useless overnight. First though, a quick explainer on what Strava Flyby is. There were many cool uses for it, such as seeing how a race was won as the little icons moved about, or see if that pro that blew past you on your training ride was really a pro.

I wrote a little bit about it five years ago, showing how it worked on a random Sunday morning ride. You could then zoom-in to areas as well, and see the larger routes of the people that went nearby you. On the left side of the feature it showed which people were legit close, and which people were further away. However, that case actually has nothing to do with Strava Flyby. While the Flyby and Group activities features are shown directly on top of each other, they are actually entirely different features, with entirely different privacy settings.

I was even made a "founding member" but not much of the elan and fire of the first months is left. I have never heard a woman or man express any concern about FlyBy. Deleting the app, and replacing with an older version October 2nd has solved the issue.
