N64 rom hacking has, for many years in the past, been a dream of many retro enthusiasts with a programming background. Super Mario 64 and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time were two of the earliest games to receive modifications, often only functional in emulators. Super Smash Bros. N64 in particular persisted as a difficult game to hack, partly due to a lack of community interest in dissecting the game.

The latest version as of this post is v1. There are twenty new playable characters plus some variants of classic characters. Everyone is unlocked from the very start, even the hidden characters from the base game. Some of the new characters are clones of already available ones, somewhat like in Smash Bros Melee. However they are not identical to their parent character and not just a model swap like in other mods.

Download and unzip the Smash Remix release file Take your legally acquired ROM and drag it onto the appropriate icon for your operating system Example: Windows users, drag your ROM onto windows-drag-here or windows-drag-here.
