Supernatural is the CW network's longest-running fantasy sci-fi series to date, and without a doubt, it will remain that for quite some time. Beloved by millions all over the world, the show became a significant part of many lives. Airing for 15 years, it's safe to say it left quite an impact on those who watched it. But, as with any long-running series, it had its highs and lows throughout the seasons. If you were to put a dozen SPN fans in a room together and ask them to name their favorite season from the show, you're a different answer from each of them. The diversity and uniqueness of some of its storylines just mean that what may be the best to one Supernatural fan could be the worst to another.

When running for 15 years, any television show has its ups and downs, and when it comes to the Supernatural seasons ranked, it's evident that certain seasons are better than others. It had its ups and downs but remains iconic regardless. What makes for a great season of Supernatural boils down to a cohesive long-running story arc combined with monsters of the week. Character growth and compelling villains are also a must. The longer the series ran, some of the stories became repetitive, but the writers were able to take bigger risks with some arcs. As a result, the later seasons of the series might not be the greatest, but they certainly have some of the most creative elements of the show. The best Supernatural seasons, however, remain the earliest ones. The idea of Sam and Dean being the vessels for archangels Michael and Lucifer begins early in the show and the storyline nearly never ends. It's retread in season 14 to an extent, which explains the lack of love for the penultimate season. With some comedic entries, monster-of-the-week, and plot-heavy episodes , it made for an enjoyable storyline.
