Updated: Apr 3, I know I've mentioned this before, but time moves strangely at the gas station. Compounding the confusion, I haven't always been the most ardent supporter of linear storytelling. Some of my tales run concurrently with others. Some, I don't even remember writing This is going to be my best attempt at ordering the tales. But remember, I have an infamously shaky memory and a long history of imagining things. So, don't be surprised if this timeline changes several times as timelines are wont to do around here--you get used to it. Book Link. Events occur during Volume One.

Working at a dead-end retail job in the middle of nowhere can be hard. The long hours. The helpless customers. The enormous eldritch horror living deep below the building…. As the only full-time employee at the twenty-four hour gas station at the edge of town, Jack has pretty much seen it all. But when he decides to start an online journal documenting the bizarre day-to-day occurrences, he unwittingly attracts the attention of much more than just a few conspiracy theorists. With the body count steadily on the rise and a dark, ancient force infecting the dreams of everyone around him, Jack will do everything in his power to stay out of the way and mind his own business.

What about all the things that were never explained beyond a simple "Aliens" that deserve a tiny bit of closure? But damn, there are some great GREAT bits in this one, even if it is slightly out of alignment style-wise with the previous three books. It's weird. I had no idea this was going to be the last in the series. If he had an editor or a publishing team to help guide him to a proper finale it might have been better, but we'll never know. Granted, I loved the twist about how Roger defeated K'Rhon and it was no big deal at all, and I loved the nonchalant epilogues at the end, and I really loved that the gas station just blows up and our heroes end up going on the road together, but I felt like so many things were just glossed over when they should have been given a little more time. So much so that they end up taking a majority of the page time when other fan favorites are either locked in a jail cell to take them off the board or are flat out murdered off page.

As the new owner of the worst business in history, Jack has a lot on his plate. Ryan Fleming. The last book of one of my most favorite series and it did not disappoint one bit. I'm glad that this is the final book of the series because I don't think it could have been stretched out much further. Welcome to Book 4 as we continue to follow the adventures of, quote, the one unifying factor in all the weirdness! Andrea Olvera. Discover your next favorite series. And I'll probably re-read them at some point. Surprise murder party? Andrew Johnson. Book 3. He's running for mayor, has real daddy-god god-daddy? Any similarity to real persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental and, frankly, pretty weird. A perfect ending to one of the best series I have ever read. Heck, we don't even spend all that much time in the what's left of the gas station this time spoiler!
