In the closing Third Era , a prisoner is sent to the island and freed by order of the Emperor, tasked with investigating the native Nerevarine Cult amidst the rising threats of the Blight and the Sixth House. Rather than having a vast, procedurally generated world space like its predecessors, Morrowind had a more focused game world that was put together manually through the use of the Construction Set software developed especially for the game. The main story takes place on Vvardenfell, an island in the Dunmer Dark Elf province of Morrowind, part of the continent of Tamriel.
