Wowsers — another week has passed and I have been so flat-out, I have barely had time to scratch myself! After meeting the group at the airport on Friday morning, they were whisked out to Mona in the Posh Pit where they enjoyed the museum, a beautiful lunch at The Source and then a wine tour and tasting with my friend, Dan. A drive to the top of Mt. Enjoy oysters shucked straight from the water, rock lobster and see your guide dive for abalone and sea urchin. Be delighted as your catch is turned into a delicious seafood feast accompanied by gourmet local produce and Tasmanian wines, boutique beers, ciders and juices. Hopping on a boat in Kings Pier, our wonderful guides — Ido and Kate hosted the perfect day, despite the lumpy conditions in the Channel. I will let the photos speak for themselves but it was the ultimate trip for our international guests — combined with professional yet laid-back guides and amazing seafood including the freshest oysters you will ever eat.

And so it was that The Federal Group decided to give the people of mainland Australia a destination, a place unlike any other in what was a conservative post-war era. A casino! They were ahead of their time in providing not only the high rollers, but ordinary mums, dads and pensioners a destination. We are yet to see where this all leads, whether it will remain a destination for appreciators of fine food and wine in forty years time. While the service throughout our stay, both within the casino and the Point Revolving Restaurant itself was very good, the environment in which we found ourselves immersed for two days was that of a throwback to the 80s. A fine thing indeed if you were actually living in the 70s, but 30 years on…?! A prime example was the room in which we stayed.

A wonderful experience at this terrific restaurant. We have dined here a number of times over the last few decades and I'm happy to report that the service and food is better than ever! The view is of course something to be enjoyed - particularly as the sun sets over the beautiful surrounds of Sandy.
