Technical Felt is manufactured by blending, thick felt fabric, pressing, fulling and drying, to produce a non-woven homogenous mat of fibre, which can exhibit a wide variety of properties depending on the final hardness, thickness and blend of wool used in its make-up. A 3 or 4mm thick polyester felt which is perfect for projects that need a stiff felt that can hold its shape. Does tis felt hold its own shape? Yes, but it still has some movement. It is often used for making felt crowns, and animal themed face masks so the thickness is great for this. Is this felt soft? Does this felt crease? It does iron really well though, so if you are worried about it creasing slightly in the wash or the post then you can pop a tea towel over it and iron it on a normal setting.
