Players seeking to add a Dark Mage or a Dark Bishop to their ranks will definitely need this promotional item, as the Dark Seal is the only way to promote a character to these powerful dark magic classes. It should be mentioned, however, that only male characters can become a Dark Mage or a Dark Bishop, with Hubert of the Black Eagles house being the best candidate in the entire game for these classes. There will be no easy way of obtaining Dark Seals for the first part of the game, as the only way to get them is to face the Death Knight. Sword of the Creator, Luna, and skills that do extra damage to units on horseback will be your best bet if you want to attempt it. In order to raise a male character to a Dark Bishop, you will need him to unlock Dark Mage first, so you will want to have at least 2 Dark Seals to make it happen. But although you should have an army strong enough to face the Death Knight in month 11, it is extremely risky to try beating him in the earlier missions. Be warned: it isn't easy. Most players would do well to avoid him altogether in this first encounter. With smart use of Battallions though, it is possible to defeat the Death Knight this early and earn yourself a Dark Seal. You can also use a thief class to steal the item from the Dark Knight, but be perpared to either finish the mission or move your unit out of harms way after if you don't want to lose them.
