This started by noise from the clutch on the compressor. It has however been replaced. The AC relay has also been checked and replaced. Yet the light still blinks. And compressor not working.

I looked at the belt and saw no obvious signs but I didn't have the time to jack it up and look through the wheel well. What I'm trying to avoid is buying a lot of parts that don't solve the problem. If anyone has advice on steps to take, I'd appreciate it. I saw Sweeney's guide to changing the serpentine belt and I'm hoping that's all it is. On my 08 Lexus I got the flashing light after going through a puddle once. Charge was good, never had a problem with cooling so I let it be until I sold it about 2 years later. Ran the AC last night and it ran like a champ. Your explation of compressor not spinning is great and photos have helped me to understand. Parts came in yesterday and I along with the help of my Dad was able to replace the AC compressor. I'd read that it can sense if the belt is slipping and that can cause the light to flash. More likely the belt is worn, and its a cheap replacement to try. Entire process took about 6 hours but I had took quite a few extra measures to make sure the new compressor was future proofed flush lines, double check oil, replace accumulator. Good luck. HELP -- Flashing 4hi-4lo lights with other lights on?? That is a common problem with compressor failures. Posted September 29, Sounds like a ground wire issue. Please consider creating a new thread. Probably would have been a bit easier if I removed the coolant rubber hose but I didn't want to flush it. Further diagnosis proves this in the following video of turning the AC on and off.
