Last year April, I had the fortunate opportunity to visit Taiwan.
Seventeen years after the first Tripod opened, Taipei finally got a branch of its own in October. Was it worth the wait? Well, the wait isn't over yet. Tripod prefers walk-in reservations, meaning the same people that didn't mind waiting an hour or more to get seats after driving all the way to Taichung are now thrilled to sign their names on a list a mere two or three hours before getting into the Taipei branch. But once inside - and when the staff says two hours its two hours prompt, there's no need to hover around the door like everyone else seems to - it's obvious Tripod is not your average hotpot shop. The waitstaff pads about in traditional silk robes and slippers, dark wood furniture glows under paper lamps and even the small iron teakettle and teacups on the table have been carefully arranged as if to say: "Look, this is what you're about to pay for.

I have a tough time with Ma-La because it just keeps getting spicier. By the end of the meal, I can't taste anything anymore. If you're looking for another good hot pot place not sure if you already reviewed it , try Qi-Min. They do organic hot-pot. Pricier than the typical hotpot but the vegetables are excellent and the soup base becomes nice and sweet without that artificial taste toward the end. Plus, they give you a large amount of meat as well as an appetizer and dessert. Plus, the atmosphere has a nice upscale feel to it. Those pots look really interesting. And the vocabulary is very, very interesting! It is kind of like what happened on one of our trips to China these years. At the Great Wall, one person was selling "watef, Beef, and camefa". They messed up the "R" for the "F" button on the keyboard.
I wasn't so crazy about the Szechewan mini-meatballs, but mostly everything was good. The basic premise is a pot placed over heat on a dining surface.
Tripod King Hot Pot is the most well-known spicy hot pot restaurant all over Taiwan. Before it opened restaurants widely on the island, many tourists visited Taichung just for the legendary flavor—even it took them more than half an hour lining up at the entrance. No matter what ingredients you add into the hot pot, the unique spicy soup stock will make any of them delicious. In addition to various kinds of meat and meatballs, you should order a plate of fresh vegetables and one of mushrooms. Besides, since Tripod King has cleaned the entrails and duck blood curds thoroughly and removed all the gamy smell of them, customers—even those who dare not to taste the two ingredients—are recommended to try some. Take a bite of them, you can only feel the luscious and bouncy texture.
