In short: It is recommended to use an Elemental fruit , for maximum efficiency, use Light in the First Sea and then switch to Buddha once you reach level or as soon you enter the Second Sea until MAX level, but Buddha is still good early-game if you want to get V2 fighting styles such as Death Step or Sharkman Karate.
