Two weapon fighting pathfinder

View Full Version : Pathfinder Best way to build an effective two-weapon fighter.

I've always seen people say that you should get power attack if you're two weapon fighting due to the damage that it provides you. The issue is that combining the penalties from both makes it so inaccurate that the image you get is less of a devastating human blender, and more of someone blindly flailing around hoping they will hit something. You can hurt as you want, but there's no point if you can't hit your target. So why would anybody put such potentially detrimental penalties on themselves just the for sake of more damage? Because you are only -2 AB behind a non TWF build, assuming you are using a light weapon in your off hand. One could say you are 3 AB behind, on account of having to enchant 2 weapons.

Also this is ridiculously fascinating to me as someone who has never really done a deep dive on the math of this system and only in the last couple years started planning combats as a GM based on the DPR of the PCs. If your off-hand weapon is light, the penalties are reduced by 2 each. So, even less of a trap there. Sign in. I suppose that we could, as a treat, evaluate these options in words beyond DPR. One of the most crippling aspects of it is the Dexterity requirement, which for Improved TWF is 17, while increasing strength is still to most reliable way to pump out damage. Halfling : Small size gives a welcome bonus to both attacks and AC, and the Dexterity bonus is excellent. This has the effect that the results are still valid when fighting a high CR boss opponent, somethign I think is of higher interest than the DRP when fighting weak monsters. Dec 20, , am. This is so wild. Can you use two longswords for two weapon fighting? Dec 18, , am. They do not automatically determine that one build is better than another. And "bad luck" as well. Back to the thread, one example for combining both is when your attacks only hit on a nat I was invited to play in a Pure Pathfinder game and I want to make a Two-weapon fighter the combat style, not the class or the archetype specifically , but since I'm not as familiar with PF as I'd like to be I'm wondering what would be the best way to do. A character using two weapon fighting and power attack can often cut through them like a hot knife through butter. Maybe if you are playing in a magic item light campaign or you had to dump dexterity for some reason, then TWR would be a better choice. It won't surprise you but in return it will give you what was promised. Pharasman and Twf with daggers because of the Obedience and you're getting somewhere. Is it better to have 3 attacks in a full attack round that all suffer a -2 penalty, or should I stick with 2 more accurate ones? How often are you getting accuracy boosts from the other PCs; how often do foes last into multiple full attack rounds; does your build and WBL support the amount of feats and items needed to optimize around this combo? Monk and fighter scaling damage is just pitiful, full stop.
