DCTA partners with local colleges and universities to provide transit solutions for students, faculty and staff. The UNT Campus Shuttle system offers a robust schedule of 15 bus routes which serve the entire UNT campus as well as many of the most widely used off-campus housing areas, local businesses and attractions. UNT Campus Shuttle bus service is also available to the general public with normal fares. Additionally, DCTA provides a comprehensive University Pass Program that offers a discounted pass for students, faculty and staff looking to incorporate the A-train in their travels on a regular basis. The Transportation Services department supports the UNT community by providing transportation and parking options each day. We can help you find the campus parking lots that best meet your needs. We can connect you to transportation options to help you navigate campus and the surrounding community. In our Parking section , you will find information on permits, citations, when and where to park and visitor parking. Please note: Permits are required when the university is open, even if school is not in session or it is after normal business hours. Improperly permitted or parked cars are subject to citation during these times. For early morning 2 am to 7 am , we partner with Lyft to give students a code that gives them free rides around campus - that way if students are studying late in the library, for example, they can get a Lyft ride back to their residence halls or to their cars on campus. The Transportation Fee students pay is used to support these and other transportation initiatives. See below for further descriptions of each transit service we offer and how to use them. All buses are equipped with bike racks and are ADA compliant allowing us to provide access for our entire community. There are two main things to keep in mind when preparing to ride: the route map and the service calendar.
We know how important it is for students to have secure transit on the UNT campus and surrounding areas. Our partners at the Denton Country Transportation Authority provide much of the transit on and around campus. We also work with other vendors to offer various transit options that work for the UNT community. Riding DCTA buses is easy - and the transportation fee that students pay covers the cost so that you don't have to pay per ride for campus and Denton city buses. If you've never ridden a bus you can find information on what you need to know in our Campus Transit section. This section will also take you to the DCTA website where you can learn more about specific bus routes. UNT also partners with services that offer car or bike rentals. This means, you don't have to have a car on campus to get around.
