Leigh outdid herself with this story of hate, love and obsession. She managed to create such an intriguing, addictive read, blending the sweetness and sexiness perfectly. It was that good! Needless to say, 'Vicious' met all my expectations. He was in my veins. Every single one of his words and every single one of his actions makes Emilia believe that he hates her like no other. It was crazy, but that was how much I craved this man. Ten years later, Vicious and Emilia meet again. Both of them have changed, but in so many ways they remained the same. What happens when certain circumstances make them work together, spending lots of time together?

Schwab brings to life a gritty comic-book-style world in vivid prose: a world where gaining superpowers doesn't automatically lead to heroism, and a time when allegiances are called into question. She needs this, but Vicious appears to be the same brute he was in high school. True that he stays as a jerk until the end and forever but the little changes in him melted my heart. This author NAILED the hate aspect and catapults this book with the likes of Bully and Corrupt yet she went the step further getting the full 5 stars from me. All things considered, this was a "win" for me. There are no clear cut, no clear message of goodness versus evil here. Buddy Read with Riley! Someone who creates characters so intiguing and compelling that it's impossible to lose interest in them. It is difficult to bear, really. Until the very end, I was not sure whether Vicious is truly in love with Emilia or if he is simply a sociopath unable of feeling love. A killer from page one That sounds wrong.

But this is a book about two college roommates who are literally experimenting with life and death and that tiny, minuscule, grey area in-between. In real life, though That's how I felt the whole time I was reading this. Oh and the manly posturing and money exchange was just not enough for me! Author 6 books I loved that he was so unapologetic and that he knew exactly who he was. Not only that, it kept me interested to see why Vicious felt the way he did, what was going to happen now that they had to confront what was going on between them then and now, and how it all would end. I do think you should know that neither of them are sympathetic characters, but you do end up rooting for Victor to win. Yet, we still get glimpses into what happened at college ten years ago to bring these current ramifications into fruition. This was foreplay. The woman definitely gave him a run for his money and for all his thinly veiled insults that he throws her way, you can see just how much he craves her underneath it all. The pain is the same. Quiero ser Afiliado. Victor and Eli become the guinea pigs in their own science experiments, and their hubris goes too far.
