Villain is a British action crime drama film directed by Philip Barantini and starring Craig Fairbrass. It is Barantini's feature directorial debut. The film received generally positive reviews, was the critics choice in The New York Times and reached number seven in the US iTunes movie chart. Eddie Franks has just been released from prison after completing a ten-year sentence. Eddie is determined to 'go straight' and return to his old life as the landlord of The Green Man in the East End of London. Unfortunately, he discovers that his younger brother, Sean, has let his pub become seedy and decrepit in his absence. Sean has also become a drug addict, is dating a stripper named Rikki and is in debt to local gangsters, the Garrett brothers for whom he had been working as a drug mule.

Someone who might react to a seductive, screwed-up Isabella Rossellini not with intrigue, but with perfectly understandable confusion and fear. At times, it plays like a daffy mix of Lynch and True Romance. Its actors are very game, willing to accompany the script to some deliciously bizarre places. When their car breaks down after a score, the pair decide to break in to a nearby house to steal a new ride. As you might expect, they choose the wrong house. The owners, George Jeffrey Donovan and Gloria Kyra Sedgwick are anything but the straight-laced, wholesome couple they appear to be. But before they dispatch their victims, this homicidal husband and wife are going to have some fun with their prey. Monroe also throws some excellent physicality into her performance, sometimes squeezing herself through tight spaces, or flopping her body comically across the floor. His George has a genial southern drawl, always acting with a demeanor of complete gentility and control, even in his most intense moments. He indulges her whims, comforts her, and gives her a relatively safe space in which to operate.
Thinking quickly, Jules runs for it to try and find another way to help Mickey. He manages to uncuff Jules, but when she tries to get his cuffs, the stud breaks inside.

Their vision of the orange-hued, warm and beachy Sunshine State—which cinematographer Matt Mitchell represents in dreamy glimpses—looks curiously like a nostalgic and feverish Harmony Korine movie. Perhaps Mickey and Jules just miss their teenage years of being forever spring breakers. Or more likely, they were never before granted a carefree youthfulness, which they just desire to claim retroactively once and for all. Smart, they most certainly are not. But perhaps they still deserve a break in life after all. Mickey and Jules are so hopeless as runaway felons that after robbing a gas station, they realize, of all things, that their car is out of gas. Luckily enough, Jules notices a lonesome mailbox perched on the side of the road, fronting a handsome house with a car waiting to be stolen and a mysterious basement that houses a little girl Blake Baumgartner chained to a poll.

They decide to walk until they can find another solution to keep moving. They leave the car stranded until they come across a nice house. They start to break in until Mickey sees that the front door is deadbolted shut. Jules hands him a crowbar and they break in. Mickey and Jules start to make themselves comfortable as they try to figure out their next move.

There are so many small scene details and the way the actors respond to them it's so good. Wacky and unique characters put in a situation where anything can and will happen. But that was not enough to keep me interested. George explains that their "Sweetiepie" is down there for discipline.
