Void Linux is independent Linux distribution following a rolling release model entirely developed by volunteers. It appeals to users who prefer a lightweight, minimalistic, highly customizable Linux experience. However, what sets it apart from most other Linux distributions is that Void is not a derivative of any other. Instead, it is a genuinely original build from scratch. Moreover, it is a notable exception to most Linux distributions because it is systemd-free ; Void uses runit as its init system instead of the more common systemd.
