Do you repair your gear in the field or wait to do it cheaper in town? Do you use medicine or tough it out until you can make it to an apothecary? Do you need a dedicated Miner in the group, or should you have someone that is a one-use novice? Archers are your ranged units and work great to inflict damage from a distance, weakening enemies in the early rounds of combat before they close the distance with your more frontline troops. Archers are a great supplement for moving classes, working well with Spearman who can push away enemies.
Wartales class
The grim world of Wartales is full of hardy companions with a range of fighting styles, each suited to different needs in its turn-based strategic combat. Each class will also have a number of optional Attributes and Specializations, meaning that even two fighters of the same class can be wildly different in their play-style and effectiveness. In addition to this, the weapon and armor types available to the respective classes will also vary depending on their role, so players will need to ensure that every character is equipped with the most effective weapons and armor for their class. As well as determining which classes are available in the starting party , players will also be able to recruit a plethora of companions in the game, who are commonly available in taverns and other locations throughout the game world. While it is safe to say that units of the Archer class are almost a necessity for every party, there are a few reasons as to why this class may be weaker than many other available options in the game. Primarily a range-based class, Archers will utilize bows and a range of attacking abilities as well as have an increased movement range in combat. The Archer can specialize as a Hunter, Beastmaster or Infantryman - each granting different abilities including control over animal companions which can be extremely useful. The weaknesses of this class lie mainly in the fact that, when engaged, all of its strengths are negated, and generally Archers will have less defensive capabilities than most other units. Perhaps the slowest-starting but most unique class in Wartales is the Spearman. Primarily a support unit, the Spearman has a range of abilities from striking multiple times in a single turn and dealing massive damage, to passive protection abilities for allies. Equipped with two-handed pole-arms, this class has a choice of different specialties: Harpooner, Herald and Pikeman, each of which will alter the way in which this unit can be used in combat. From Level 3 onwards, the Spearman truly begins to shine as a range of new abilities become unlocked, but to begin with, this class can be a challenge to get to grips with for newer players. The Ranger is an assassin-style class, primarily skilled in the use of daggers, poisons and unconventional weaponry such as bombs and other projectiles. Dealing bonus damage when attacking from behind, these units are best utilized in support and can cause havoc against groups of opponents with their range of different abilities. Rangers can specialize as a Cutthroat, Strategist, Poisoner or Assassin, and will excel in either the Thieving or Alchemy professions.

The smoke bomb guy was basically like another Lieutenant that could order more wartales class one guy to attack at range rather than melee, and with the added effect of disengage, wartales class, which sometimes I wish didn't happen.
Shiro Games' Wartales is an open-world medieval RPG that sees players take control of a band of mercenaries as they embark upon a variety of quests and engage in a number of activities. Along with a diverse range of classes for players to choose from, each one with a different utility and playstyle associated with it, there are also Specializations that help to further differentiate characters from one another by offering up unique abilities and bonuses associated with each one. Each class has three different Specializations for players to choose from, and each will have several further abilities that can be selected and applied as the character progresses through the levels. These Specializations are the most effective and unique for players to use throughout the game. The Beastmaster specialization is an optional route for companions in the Archer class and centers around the control and use of animal companions.
Medieval fantasy turn and squad-based RPG Wartales allows you to create a war band in any way you choose. But each member will have a class with a mass of options available, making it hard to know the best builds. I tend to enjoy experimenting with class builds as I go, altering specs as my party grows in number and the needs of the group change. While these are the best builds for each class in my experience, your mileage will of course vary. There are many things to take into consideration when choosing a class build, such as party makeup and size. Some players will completely ignore a class, while taking several characters in another, meaning you may want to have them different. Our guide to choosing specializations for your builds will set you off in the right direction.

For one, the Ranger should always be positioned near allies to trigger its aforementioned passive abilities. Cost 1 : All allied animals next to the target gain Fury and strike it with an attack of opportunity. I think the pike wall was better. The weaknesses of this class lie mainly in the fact that, when engaged, all of its strengths are negated, and generally Archers will have less defensive capabilities than most other units. Archers can deal damage from the edges, stop anyone from fleeing and heal someone safely, if necessary. More: Wartales: How to Capture Prisoners. The damage is doubled if the target's Health is higher. This specialization will grant the Archer the ability to order any friendly animals within a certain radius to attack a specified target. Although this class will really shine at higher levels once the Shout ability has been unlocked, it can still be useful in the early game thanks to its excellent Area-Of-Effect abilities. Cost 1 : This unit and all units in area gain Brutality for 2 rounds. Perhaps the slowest-starting but most unique class in Wartales is the Spearman. Given enough points and a little time, he single handedly turned the tide in fights that looked hopeless as he would just destroy people who were even at or near full life in one turn.

This unit has Protection and Brutality when their team is outnumbered. Also applies Fragility for 2 rounds. The only weakness to the Ranger is their armor, which is considerably lighter than any other unit, and therefore makes Rangers vulnerable if they remain in the danger zone when faced with strong opponents. At the end of their turn, this unit heals nearest allied animal for an amount equal to the animal's Constitution. They also have permanent Berserk.
