Hines Constructions has been involved in the development of the Westpoint Shopping Centre since it was originally built. In Hines Constructions was engaged by Inland Developments Pty Limited once again to complete a major redevelopment and expansion of the Shopping Centre. The original shopping centre was sqm, once works were completed the shopping centre increased to sqm. All construction works were undertaken whilst existing tenancies operated 7 days a week. Works included a two storey and single storey purpose built buildings to accommodate a new childcare centre, bottle shop, pharmacy, Dominos and space for new retail stores. Finally the carpark was also upgraded which now accommodates spaces. The result is a fresh and new updated shopping centre for the Windradyne and Bathurst residents to utilise. Complaints from tenants and the public were negligible which is testament to Hines efficient operation…The firm performed all tasks to a high standard under at times very difficult conditions. The recent federal budget has warned that there will be a sharp increase in energy bills , which will add pressure to those already struggling with cost-of-living demands. It has been a very chaotic couple of years for the staff and customers of IGA, who have been working around a massive construction project at Westpoint, that more recently saw the store lose a big chunk of its footprint. But it's all been worth it for the store, which will more than double in size once it is fully finished early next year. Work to set up the new section of IGA began this week and staff members will be at work as early as 4am on Thursday to put the last of the stock on display. The supermarket will officially open its doors at 6. Entry is via the new automatic doors on the childcare centre side of the shopping complex.
