BeetleWings were the first settlers of Pantala, along with the LeafWings. They were first mentioned in The Poison Jungle. Warning:this contains some spoilers. BeetleWings were described to have four wings, like that of butterflies, beetles, or dragonflies. It is possible they had antennae, since Cricket mentioned that HiveWings did at one point.

BeetleWings , along with the LeafWings , were the first settlers of Pantala. They were eventually bred into extinction after the arrival of Clearsight , splitting them into the HiveWings and SilkWings around 4, AS. BeetleWings had four wings and were described to be brightly colored. Clearsight thought they were more beautiful than even RainWings. Only two pure BeetleWings have appeared in the series so far: Sunstreak and a small unnamed lavender BeetleWing dragonet Clearsight saw in a vision. BeetleWings hatched without wings but developed them later on, similar to SilkWings. BeetleWings were rumored to have antennae and the ability to shoot venom from their fangs. Thick, large and shiny scales like an exoskeleton, some skin shows between them like a stretched out snake. They have two large Elytra-like exoscales on their backs that hide their wings. May be based off of any beetle or a bit more uncommonly any sort of insect that has an exoskeleton. Exoscales cover their true wings like beetle Elytra, but when open their wings are a dragon like limb with transparent insect wings attached in place of wing membrane. The wings may have slight coloring or iridescence to them, and are more fragile than other tribes. Thicker and shorter tails with a bit of prehensile-ness to them, and exoscales cover the base of their tails, becoming scarcer near the tip. Shorter legs than other tribes, blunt talons with claws fit for digging or climbing. Average eyes, typically shades of green, silver, or gold, but can range to colors like blue or amber as well.
