Yhwach is a man who goes by many names—Your Majesty, Father of the Quincy, Emperor of the Wandenreich, but fans of Bleach have no problem keeping up with him. With his intricate history and arsenal full of powers that outmatch any, Yhwach marched towards his goal to create a world without the fear of death, challenging the protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki, in the process. Even though Yhwach needs no introduction, some information about the headstrong character could easily slip past viewers. So here are ten things fans may not know about Yhwach. When Yhwach reveals that he is the son of the Soul King , many parts of his history start to make more sense. He had some baffling powers as a child, was worshipped by the Quincies, and was even addressed by the name of their god.
Yhwach
The greatest threat to Soul Society and the Gotei 13 in their collective history, Yhwach is the Father of the Quincy, Emperor of the Wandenreich, and the son of the Soul King, wielding power beyond imagination. Although the list of abilities he has at his disposal are incredibly fearsome in their own right, not to mention his immeasurable reserves of Reiatsu , there is one power he wields which is the source of his near invincibility. Known as "The Almighty," which is also his designation with the letter "A," this ability grants Yhwach the power to plan and account for any unforeseen circumstance that he may encounter. He himself has described it as "the mark of a true Quincy," and it is easily one of the most overpowered techniques seen throughout Bleach. No single Shinigami or individual in the series can hold a candle to its all-encompassing might, which is why Yhwach was able to bring Soul Society to its knees on being revived. Simply put, The Almighty grants the power to peer into and potentially alter the future depending on the user wielding it. It is shared between Yhwach, who wields it during the day, and Jugram Haschwalth, the Wandenreich's Sternritter Grandmaster, who gains access to it at night when Yhwach falls asleep. When either of them activate The Almighty, it splits their irises and pupils, which take on a red tinge. After absorbing Ichibe Hyosube's Futen Taisatsuryo , Yhwach gained one more pupil in each of his eyes. The powers it grants when active are two-fold. Both Yhwach and Haschwalth can perceive countless futures extending from their present with omni-precognition, and choose how to act accordingly. The futures they see are not linear, but a collection of every potential outcome that could transpire. Next, The Almighty allows its user to alter their future to fit the outcome they desire. According to Yhwach, this is the true power of The Almighty , and only he can use it, with Haschwalth unable to tap into this aspect of the ability.
Soon afterward, Ichigo coughs up blood after being attacked by Yhwach, who grabs him by the head while noting yhwach he expected more of a fight from Ichigo, yhwach.
Updated on September 27, p. Yhwach is the progenitor of the Quincies, a supposedly extinct race of warriors that were exterminated by the Soul Reapers. Yhwach is a grave, polarizing man. To reclaim his own strength and power, he shows zero hesitation at killing his subordinates. To that end, one needed to kill the Soul King, a powerful entity that keeps all three realms separate, thus maintaining the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. He shows complete and utter disregard for Arrancars, but he appreciates power — even from ages-old opponent Genryuusai Shigekuni Yamamoto. He can take back these fragments for himself, giving him a boost in power and mortality.
Warning: Spoilers for Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Episode 24 Episode 24 of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War opened with a brand-new scene that was not present in the manga, offering viewers their first glimpse at Yhwach's true motives and his past, something that remained largely unexplored in the manga, giving fans yet another reason to watch this new anime adaptation. He has been responsible for both the first and second assaults on the Soul Society, but his reasons for doing so haven't been entirely revealed. Given the genocide of the Quincy by the Soul Reapers several hundred years ago, revenge seemed like a solid motive at first, but considering how powerful Yhwach is, the story still hasn't explained how he was defeated and sealed in the past. Manga readers also know about Yhwach's mostly unexplained connection to the Soul King and were hoping to see these elements clarified in the new anime. The flashback at the start of episode 24 does just that. The first scene of episode 24 of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is set in the distant past, before the first war with the Quincy that took place 1, years before current events. It begins with Ichibe Hyosube, the current leader of Squad 0, offering a non-aggression pact to the Quincy king Yhwach, who however refuses the offer, seeing it as a deception. He then questions Ichibe on the state of the world: how did it come to be separated into three realms, and who introduced the concept of death? Yhwach clearly resents the state of existence as it stands, and hopes to return things to the way they once were: a primordial world where the Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, and the World of the Living are all joined as one, with no distinction between life and death.

When Ichigo attacks him, Yhwach effortlessly blocks his sword and points out how it is pointless to fight him any further because Soul Society will be destroyed regardless. He initially had boundless respect towards Yamamoto and his original Gotei 13 for being as he put it a band of ruthless cutthroats, devoid of any compassion towards their adversaries. The path to a world without fear. After planting his sword in the ground, Yhwach states that Ichigo has likely been told that The Almighty allows him to see the future, prompting Ichigo to note that his attack should not connect if this is true. Although the list of abilities he has at his disposal are incredibly fearsome in their own right, not to mention his immeasurable reserves of Reiatsu , there is one power he wields which is the source of his near invincibility.
