The humble California native tells The Daily how her passion for people made her the new go-to talent shooting the next gen. How did you first become interested in photography? I went to an arts high school in L. We had academics in the morning and art in the afternoon. Then, I painted and did photography as a hobby, and went to the University of Pennsylvania and majored in fine art and minored in photography. I always had an obsession with fashion.

Growing up in LA has made me appreciate the fast-paced rhythm of a big city, but also more thoughtful, quiet moments in nature. I was able to have both of those growing up here. One particular thing that I am so grateful for is the open-minded people that I grew up around, and all of the exposure to the arts. I feel like LA is an incredibly artistic and inspiring city that supports creativity. I was a very quiet, shy and thoughtful kid…-I remember being obsessed with decorating my bedroom and color-coordinating my clothing from like, the age of five. When did you first figure out you had a love for photography? What drew you in? I have always loved looking at pictures. Once I did, I was really hooked.

I rented lighting and had my best friend pretend to be my lighting assistant.

My dad, Ben, was an amateur photographer and owned a family camera shop with my uncle Harry. My feminist mom was a high school English and journalism teacher so I combined their skills and gravitated toward shooting editorially. I majored in art at Grinnell College. The program combined studio work and art history but no photography. I tried out various mediums but wasn't particularly good in any of them.
