Anne Hampton Potts born October 28, [1] is an American actress. She voiced Bo Peep in the first , second and fourth films of the Toy Story franchise , , and and in various Disney video games. She has two older sisters. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri , and graduated with a bachelor's degree in theater. Potts and her first husband, Steven Hartley, were in a car crash that left several bones below her waist broken, [3] including compound fractures to both legs, and caused the loss of the heel of her right foot; Hartley lost his left leg. She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in for her role in the film. In , she played Edith Bedelmeyer, a woman who shared an attic apartment with three other women played by Georgia Engel , Lorna Patterson , and Francine Tacker on the short-lived comedy series, Goodtime Girls. Potts played receptionist Janine Melnitz in the Ghostbusters film series; Potts created the character's trademark New York accent based on a friend's who was from the city. Born in Nashville and raised in Kentucky, Potts always dreamt of becoming an actress. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri where she first began taking drama courses. After graduating, Potts continued her acting studies with post-graduate work in California. However, Potts's burgeoning acting career was nearly derailed in her early 20s when she and her then husband were involved in a major car accident in New Mexico. Potts survived, thankfully, but broke several bones as a result from the wreck and was laid up for weeks in the hospital. After recovering from the accident, Potts pushed forward with her fledgling acting career. Potts continued nabbing roles throughout the early s but it was her supporting role as a wise-cracking secretary in 's "Ghostbusters" that really put her on the map. The huge success of "Ghostbusters" put Potts into the purview of casting agents seemingly overnight and before long she was appearing in popular 80s films like "Crimes of Passion" , "Pretty in Pink" , and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" Potts appeared in all episodes of the series, which ended its 7 season run in Potts' next big role came in when she was cast as the voice of Bo Peep in the Pixar animated film "Toy Story"
