Mai appears hurt and suddenly begins acting coldly towards Sakuta. The episode and series ends with Kaede leaving the hospital and wishing to go back to school. And again, I really laud this series for allowing its main male character to have so much emotional depth. And it made me think: how long has Sakuta been hiding his sorrow over the past few story arcs, so as to not upset the people he was trying to help?
