After one of those work-outs where you really feel like you've achieved something, I was itching to get the Redpoints on some real climb x redpoint. These days rock shoes seem to be getting softer and softer, making the quest to find a supportive trad shoe increasingly tough.
The next thing I knew was that Sarah had asked me to test their best-selling Redpoint, which was apparently a great all-rounder, ideal for 'newbies and seasoned climbers alike'. Pinkpoint climbing means using quickdraws during the climb. The climber is taking the route for the first time, at first sight, and without prior knowledge. A climber ought not to have previously boned up apologies, no pun intended on a route to be truly onsight. He must climb a random or newly discovered route or climb one he is forced to take because he has made a blunder. Purists argue that even watching another climber use the same route negates the claim of a proper onsight climb.
