After serving in the Navy, Joe worked as a software engineer in different startup companies as well as larger network companies. Joe retired from his last role as principal engineer at Crossbeam Systems in Boxborough Mass. He played guitar and piano but it was the bass that he enjoyed the most. He will be sorely missed by the music community. Joe also excelled in physics and mathematics.

After 3 generations of management, the ownership of the funeral home transferred to Brenda Scott in June, who continues to operate the facility with the tradition of compassion, honour and integrity established by the Downs family. We at the Downs and Son Funeral Home are committed to providing the absolute best care we can for you, your family and your friends.
