Ford ranger fuel pump problems
The complaint was low power but only with the headlights on! To be honest, I thought the guy was on something and I totally disregarded his complaint. I thought to myself "there is no way turning your headlights on can be associated with a low power complaint", ford ranger fuel pump problems, I think I even told him that.

Possible fuel pump issues?? Thread Tools. Been a long time since I owned a Ford, and a lot has changed between a 70 Mustang and a 98 Ranger! I am having problems with this truck and not sure if I'm on the right path. It is a 98 Ranger XLT with 3. It has been showing me the codes po and together for a week or so and yesterday it showed a po code. Today it wouldn't start? Tried starting fluid and it started, then died but then restarted and ran till warm. But it would not restart after?? I have been through the vacuum system no leaks found, and the IAC valve when un-plugged the idle drops the approx. I tested fuel pressure, key on not running 48psi but it would not reload pressure when relieved but it needs input from other things to do that. I have changed the fuel filter and had just put a can of sea foam cleaner into the tank. Suspect I have a bad pump but? Any ideas would help. Last edited by nordie; at PM.
Note the " wheel base trucks use a different pump than the " and " wheelbase trucks.

Yes I did a little more research and found that there is an inertia switch that kills the pump when the motor isn't running. Certainly does sound like low fuel pressure. Please take a few seconds and Register for our forum. The ground that goes bad is down by the wheel well on the frame. Any thoughts on these offerings? Cranks fine but no starts. The problem was very intermittent.
