In a recent interview, Berserk's Kouji Mori discussed his decision to continue the manga after the passing of Kentaro Miura. Mori, who was Miura's best friend, explained that the decision was not an easy one, but that he ultimately felt it was the right thing to do. Mori also discussed the challenges of continuing Berserk without Miura , who was both the writer and artist for the series. I give advice on drafts, but the final drawings are the work of Studio Gaga. The drawing skills of our staff, including Chief Kurosaki-kun, are extraordinary. I believe that after they complete Berserk, they will become artists who will leave their mark on the manga world. Elsewhere in the interview, it is mentioned that Berserk boasts a total circulation of approximately 60 million copies worldwide, including both physical and digital editions.

The work in question was the illustration of the Eclipse , for which Mori was shut in with Miura for several weeks as Miura developed and finalized the work. Mori has said that, from that point, the core story of Berserk was complete up until the last episode, and that it has developed effectively exactly as Miura divulged it would back then. As supervisor of Berserk ' s development and completion from June onward, Mori promised to only tell the story insofar as he can reliably recall being told directly by Miura himself; he says he will not "flesh out" any parts of the remaining story with conjecture to compensate for story parts he does not clearly remember Miura describing to him.
