Funny you should say that James - Lesvos or 'Lesbos' is it is also sometimes transcribed was the home of Sappho, antiquity's most notable Lesbian! In fact the word 'Lesbian' is derived from the name of the island. Apart from that Lesvos doesn't have a reputation for being a party island, though it is usually described as being very pretty.

We are thinking about our next trip in Sept. Lesvos is currentIy on my radar along with Chios. This will be our third trip to Greece. We expect to have about 5 weeks. We don't "do" big hotels and beaches with row after row of sun beds. A daily swim on a quiet beach is a high priority, along with quiet tavernas. We tend to seek out places where no one else goes One of the metrics we use for how "Greek" a place feels to us is how much English we hear spoken around us. The Peloponnese, the Pelion, and Tinos get the award for the most "Greek". Kefalonia got the award for the most touristy and least "Greek".
