He was refused bail at Cessnock Local Court, his matter will return at the end of February. But just after midnight on October 3, , things went awry for club members Robert Parry and Dean Hyland who had joined forces with club nom Barry Yates and prospect Bradley Powick. Shearer was a drug dealer who sold mostly pot from his Levitt Street home, but had been stabbed to death in a Wyong pub in late September that year. The quartet, with Powick as the driver, then set off in the car for Wyong. Parry was armed with a revolver, Hyland had a shortened shotgun while Yates clutched a metal baseball bat. One witness standing outside the home was able to flee as he saw the masked men approach, but another was ordered inside and beaten. There were several people inside and a couple were able to bolt out the back door, but the rest, both men and women, were detained while the invaders demanded to know where the cash was. They punched and kicked, guns were pointed at heads and knees, the baseball bat cracked backs, arms, legs and heads.
