At least two startup airlines are keen to break the Air Tahiti monopoly on domestic routes across Tahiti's many islands. New carriers are being launched to challenge the dominant position of Air Tahiti, which flies to more than 40 island destinations. Newly approved airlines Motu Link and Air Moana hope to start flying from Tahiti to the most popular destinations, mainly in the Society Islands and the Tuamotus. However, the head of Air Tahiti Manate Vivish told Radio 1 that there is scarcely room for more than one airline.

However, it's worth noting that an air carrier license is distinct from an air operator's certificate AOC. Both airlines are yet to gain the all-important AOC. Based at Papeete's Faa'a International Airport, the airline wants to operate scheduled and ad-hoc inter-island flights to several destinations, including Huahine, Raiatea, Bora Bora, Tikehau Atoll, Rangiroa, and Fakarava. The airline is in the process of recruiting pilots.
