Panasonic released the TZ5 in March of , updating the TZ3 with a new sensor, slightly new styling and a few new features. The lens offers a mm zoom range, offering a true wide-angle option. Panasonic has trimmed the size and weight again: it's 0. It's still not comfortable in a shirt pocket, but it's definitely compact and portable. Panasonic has made some subtle alterations to the body and interface dials to make it simpler and easier to use. The Panasonic TZ3 crammed 10 settings onto the main mode selector dial; the TZ5 removes four of these settings to the operation menu, and adds a dedicated image playback switch near where your right thumb will rest on the back of the camera body. The results is a less imposing selector dial, that also doesn't switch to playback mode when the dial gets accidentally turned.

But of course few if any compacts can boast the same impressive 10x optical zoom range which take you from decent wide angle to respectable telephoto coverage. Like its predecessor, the new TZ5 is available in black, silver or blue, although all three variations may not be sold in every region. The camera feels very solid and confident in your hands. Most obviously on the front, the grip has changed from a horizontal bar to a more traditional thicker vertical design with a textured finish. The bulge on the upper right corner of the rear surface is now home to a new switch which sets the TZ5 between recording and playback. This has allowed the main mode dial on the top of the camera to be simplified, and indeed Panasonic has also been able to dispense with a few modes. Play, Print, Macro, and the often confusing heart and intelligent ISO modes have now gone and in their place are a single Intelligent Auto mode, along with the earlier Normal mode auto with some manual options , two Scene positions, movie mode and the clipboard option. This simplification is a sensible and effective update. Finally, the shaky-hand button for adjusting the image stabilisation mode has been removed, with it now controlled through the super-imposed menu system or the main menu pages instead. During record mode, pushing up adjusts the exposure compensation or activates the backlight boost option, pushing right adjusts the flash, pushing down puts the TZ5 into macro mode, while pushing left sets the self-timer between 10 and two seconds. Below these are two buttons which again cycle through the display options and fire-up the redesigned on-screen function menu, although the latter is now called Q. On previous Panasonics, this button doubled-up to adjust the LCD brightness mode, but that option has now sensibly been put onto the dropdown function menu instead — keep reading for full details. By carefully choosing one of the 23 Scene presets and adjusting exposure compensation though you can actually achieve a wide range of creative results. The 23 scene presets include two new options over the TZ3: High Speed Burst at reduced resolutions and Multi Aspect which takes three shots at the , and aspect ratios — see sensor section on the next page for more details. The Starry sky preset also allows surprisingly long exposures for a compact, offering the choice of 15, 30 or 60 seconds.
This way, panasonic dmc tz5, you don't have to keep adjusting the mode for each shot. Picture quality 2. During this delay, which we call "shutter lag," the camera is autofocusing and setting exposure.

Many might find the attractions of the 9-megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 irresistible: it's compact enough to fit in a jacket pocket, yet packs a 10x zoom lens, complete with 28mm-equivalent wide-angle view and optical image stabilizer. It also has a 3-inch LCD and some very interesting shooting features. Because of the higher resolution, the TZ5's performance is also rated a bit slower, with fewer photos fitting in its memory buffer, than the TZ4.

The video is pretty good, but it has its set of flaws. Panasonic didn't re-invent an already good camera, maintaining a versatile lens with amazingly little distortion, and its ease of use. Despite my initial skepticism, I actually found the button useful, given the relatively long time it takes to zoom in and out. There is more noise than the Ffd, but the overall picture tone and sharpness are still excellent. Both models also incorporate Intelligent LCD, which detects the lighting condition and controls the brightness level of the LCD in 11 fine steps, to offer optimal clarity in any situation, whether dark or light; indoors or outdoors. But overall, I'm very pleased with the camera. Website design by Coolgrey. Nikon A The best thing about this new menu is that because it overlays the LCD screen, you can see the effect your new setting will give you in many cases. Like previous models, Panasonic splits and often duplicates its various settings over an overlaid function menu now called Q. I got great shots diving off a boat in mid-air with this. The Panasonic Lumix TZ5 is a compact digital point-and-shoot camera with a 10x Leica 28mm wide-angle zoom lens. The TZ5 has 9. Later, I was given the TZ5 to review.
The wide angle and HD video modes are also appreciated by customers. Intelligent Auto mode seeks to make shooting as simple as possible, automatically detecting elements in the scene to choose the most appropriate settings. In regular continuous shooting mode, the speed at full resolution has actually slowed from the Panasonic TZ3's 2. The videos are large, but they can easily be converted to another format that is smaller Then it increases the gain in the darker portions of the frame to boost detail in shadow areas. The ability to select different color profiles is especially nice During record mode, pushing up adjusts the exposure compensation or activates the backlight boost option, pushing right adjusts the flash, pushing down puts the TZ5 into macro mode, while pushing left sets the self-timer between 10 and two seconds.
