This book also contains an overview of the tasks of recovering and a great many practical tools and techniques for recovering from childhood trauma. The book is quite sexist in parts, claiming that a mother's function is love and a father's is protection. This is not a be all, end all, just one practitioner's framing of his counseling experience. It means a lot. Sadly, until I read Pete's book, I had no idea what was happening.
