I've purchased a pair of the sE Munro's 'Egg' monitors and I'm very happy with their performance. The noise is very low in loudness level. But it's constantly hearable if you are 30cm away from the speakers. This monitor system is my first one. Is this type of 'noise' normal for active speakers? I guess not I tried a lot of solutions I think, maybe the active cable connections between the speakers and the amp are the source of the noise problem. I was looking at those. The company discussed sending me some a year back, I hoped to do a little field test on them, thus, pass on a bit more info for us here. Never heard back from them so I moved on They look pretty cool.

The initial presumption was the egg would explode, leaving the good humoured educator in a mess. Jumping out of a plane toward earth at 9.

I have a new interest in hifi and it is in active speakers. It all started with the Hypex AS2. These weren't perfect, but still impressed me with their tight, dynamic and clear sound. Sadly, they had a few flaws that spoiled their performance a bit, for me, but I was still convinced that active speakers were a superior solution. I had always known this, to be honest, but never really experienced it. The difference is actually quite clear and very significant, as far as I'm concerned.

Studio monitors are arguably the most crucial element of any recording studio setup. So it stands to reason that studio monitor brands breed fiercely loyal customers. There are a select few companies that most engineers can agree will always translate their work accurately wherever they go. And a new brand has to really be something special to make that cut. These monitors could be that something special. The result of their collaboration is the sE Munro Egg monitoring system. The system is comprised of a stereo control unit power amp, which powers a pair of two-way egg-shaped speakers. The design face is sleek and clean featuring large Main and Aux volume knobs.

Hi krymel, Thanks for your prompt reply. Trim controls for the HF and LF drivers on each speaker are accessible, and the blue 'aiming' LEDs on the Eggs can be switched off once the speakers are correctly positioned. I will get in touch with you as soon as I know if that is possible". The bass control at the back is not usable for this and the eggs don't even come with a set of bungs to put in the bass ports. Can you hear the same sound in the headphones? On a more serious note, a sphere has only one dimension and thus has a very strong resonant frequency. I try to stay in contact with Andy and will provide more info here as soon as I receive feedback. With the egg shape, these reflections are virtually eliminated. SE's approach has been to use a heavily engineered plastic cabinet, which, although expensive to develop, is relatively cost-effective to build in quantity. Most have the amplification and active crossover built into the speakers, but the Eggs have a separate box for all electronics, and the speakers themselves actually only contain the drivers. Thanks a lot and kind regards, Aron. These allow you to align the speakers for optimal performance. They sound great. Suffice to say, it sounds superb. The noise is very low in loudness level.

Not surprisingly, Olson's work revealed that chamfering or rounding the front baffle edges helps to reduce these interference effects by softening the transition and severity of the pressure discontinuity at the cabinet edge — and that's why most modern loudspeaker cabinets have rounded edges to varying degrees. CapBrandoa, post: wrote: Hi, krymel2k10 and all of you, I have this MunroSystem and agree with you: "These monitors are absolutely stunning. Amplifier technology is mature, and even low-cost systems can deliver extremely good quality. As with the original Eggs, the cabinet is a ported, egg—shaped, 14—litre moulding. These allow you to align the speakers for optimal performance. Granted, they don't have the phenomenal extension and pure silky refinement of a pair of Revelator tweeters, nor the detail and speed of the SEAS Millennium, but they are not very far off. In a hi-fi application, the 'domestic manager' can place a flower vase and a photo-frame on the top to make it look less industrial, and in a studio we often place all manner of technical studio debris on top! There is nothing for the sound waves to press against any more, and that step change causes severe diffraction.
