Sennheiser has many headphones on the market suitable for almost any purpose and catering to every price range. The HD , however, is one headphone that has recently come down in price and now offers some excellent value for money. The build is a combination of high-grade plastic and metal and integrates an incredibly comfortable set of velour ear pads and a large faux leather head pad. Both of these features, combined with the open back design allowing air to flow and the circum-aural around the ear fit, means that you will be able to enjoy your sweet beats from these headphones for hours on end. The sound produced by the Sennheiser HD is laid back, smooth and rich. The sound is open, transparent, and clear, somewhat reminiscent of the extreme budget-friendly sound of the Superlux HD Evo we review last year but nowhere near the levels found on some other really high-end stuff like the outstanding Final Audio Design Pandora.

The Sennheiser HD s are as easy on the eyes as the ears, with a stylish plush velour design and a rich and smooth sound that make these open-back headphones ideal for comfortable listening. The HD s are velvety-smooth with a gentle tone meaning you can comfortably listen to them for hours on end. Drums have impact, bass notes are rich and deep, and voices expressive — there are no harsh edges to the HD s. A lush sound is enjoyable in the right setting, but we were yearning for some attack and bite to the softened top end: when listening to Metallica you want grunt and power. The HD s have a sleek and sturdy design with incredibly soft earcups and headband cushion: every inch of them feels like a premium product. The HD s grip well and adjust easily to fit most sizes — and the compact build caters well for people with smaller heads. If you want attack and excitement from your headphone sound, go elsewhere: try the Grado SR80i s or the Philips Fidelio X1 s.

It definitely stands up in comparison to my previous Sennheiser HD and it should considering the price difference, and it definitely would be the recommended upgrade from the s. Product Details. The deal-- The most important thing is that I didn't break the bank. Our expert team reviews products in dedicated test rooms, to help you make the best choice for your budget. If you're in a quiet room and don't want other people to hear what you hear, that just ain't gonna happen. They aren't much like their younger brother the HD, those are for a different sort of person. Everything is perfect with these. Bass is in sufficient quantity for non-bass heads, though it does get slightly boomy when extending further down, all-in-all quite good for the price and I did notice slight betterment with burn-in I recommend atleast 50 hrs of burn-in. You get a bass that's fit in really well, tight at points, but doesn't choke out cymbal points. Overall, these headphones are really great! I hope this was somewhat helpful to you. Details To add the following enhancements to your purchase, choose a different seller. Coming from Grado, this is noticeably more comfortable but not as comfortable as my ADX mainly due to the pads' softness and the steeper angled drivers. I don't know exactly what Eargonomic Acoustic Refinement E. Even with the mod, the s still have a warm-enough sound that I really enjoy for just relaxing while listening to music, as well as watching videos and playing games.

These have enough bass, and play that they don't sound boring. Sennheiser usually scores very high marks here in my book. But the treble is not the focus here by any means. Another thing you should consider when buy these is the level of isolation or sound leakage. This isn't boomy bass though. Try again! It is disappointing this has not be resolved since the HD headphones. Soundstage: Of course, upon first listen, the soundstage blew me away. These handle Electronic music nicely as well. On the opposite end, the treble and mid-ranges are perfection. This nature keeps the HD suitable for most music genres though hip-hop listeners may notice the lack of strong bass. This was not the case. Merchant Video.
