On the west side of the island is Koh Rong's finest beach, a 7km, almost empty stretch of drop-dead-gorgeous white sand. Sok San village at the northern end has a cluster of local eating spots and simple guesthouses. Unfortunately the beach around the village is quite dirty; walk south for cleaner waters. Two ferry companies service Sok San village in high season November to May. You can walk from Koh Tuch to Sok San's south end via the jungle trail.

My boyfriend and I loved the resort. We had travelled around Thailand and Malaysia before we ended up on Koh Rong. Having spent weeks living out of a backpack and staying in so many resorts, we thought that Sok San Beach was one of our favourite resorts. We stayed in the garden chalet, one row behind the sea view villas. The chalet was great, there was a master bedroom The chalet was great, there was a master bedroom with a living space and two bathrooms. The chalets were cleaned everyday, with fresh towels, linen etc and my favourite thing.. You forget how great it feels to have hot running water on an island. The staff were fantastic and so hospitable. Each staff member from reception to the restaurant staff strove to give the best service. The selection of food at the resort is quite limited and quite pricey, but nothing we didn't expect as it was the fanciest resort on the island. I would suggest eating there for a night or so and venturing out down to the other side of the beach and eating at one of the village restuarants, much cheaper and good local food. Despite it being quite pricey for a beach hut, we were happy to pay the cost as it was the last destination of our holiday and having read the reviews it seemed to be the only place on the island that delivered the comfort and quietness we craved. Sok San beach is just so beautiful, powdery white sands. We love our stay here, so serene and love our beach front private villa.
