Like the title says - Does an attacking spectral hand 2nd Level Necromany Spell provoke Attacks of Opportunity from moving through threatened areas? As the spectral hand returns after delivering a touch spell - does this provoke another AOO? My feeling says it should. But it would make the spell a bad choice, as soon as enemies have magical weapons. I couldn't find any discussions about this detail. What are your opinions? Last edited by Mosaique; at PM. In the absence of any text to the contrary, I don't see why it wouldn't provoke. It is, for all intents and purposes, behaving as a mindless creature controlled by the caster with a few extra limitations. You could, reasonably, apply magic item and spell effects to the spectral hand to improve its defensive capabilities if you're particularly concerned about it being destroyed. I wouldn't be overmuch concerned though.

On casting the spell, you lose 1d4 hit points that return when the spell ends even if it is dispelled , but not if the hand is destroyed. The hit points can be healed as normal. For as long as the spell lasts, any touch range spell of 4th level or lower that you cast can be delivered by the spectral hand. The hand always strikes from your direction. The hand cannot flank targets like a creature can.

So I would say you can hit it with magical weapons or spells but it doesn't provoke. But what happens if I miss the 1st time. Or, even better, a Rod of Metamagic Reach. Another Question i have is weather the PC retains the plus 2 to hit with touch attacks if he has the spell up but uses his own hand to deliver the charge if that is even possible.
