You've made it to the Swamps in your Valheim playthrough, and on your endless excursions to get Iron, one fact has become increasingly clear: You need to up your food game. Not to fear, the Swamps themselves offer the next big leap in your available foods, and chief among them is the noble Turnip. But how do you find the seeds you need to grow this crop, and how do you even farm them once you do? Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about finding, farming, and making the most of Turnips. Turnips are the second growable crop you'll come across in your average Valheim playthrough, but you need to find the seeds first. In this case, you'll need to thoroughly explore the Swamps of your world. You're looking for a dull yellow flower with three stalks amid the dull grasses and weeds of the wetlands. That might sound easy to spot, but the Swamps isn't the type of biome that leaves you with plenty of time to look around, and to make matters worse, Wild Turnip Seeds tend to spawn on their own. Expect to have to search for a while — possibly hours — before finding Wild Turnip Seeds, and unlike Carrot Seeds, you should plant them as soon as you find them. Turnip Seeds are rare enough that you're unlikely to find even a handful, so the best course of action is to start growing as soon as possible. To farm Turnips, you'll need a Cultivator, which can be made with Bronze and Core Wood, and a patch of cultivated ground. Simply select Turnips in the Cultivator menu and plant as many as you can in what space you have.

After finding the Swamp biome, you may come across Turnip Seeds as you explore it, and these can be used to make Turnip Stew. Turnip Stew is a balanced food item that provides a considerate amount of health and stamina, and health regeneration. You can easily farm many Turnips and cook enough Turnip Stew to last you a lifetime in Valheim as long as you farm and cook according to plan. Each bowl of Turnip Stew weighs for 1. Turnip Stew provides a good balance of health and stamina combined with other food items and its decent health regeneration buff. Turnip Stew requires Raw Meat and Turnips, so if you have gotten used to the spawning of creatures that drop Raw Meat, you should be able to cook plenty.
