Death was a concept that the show never shied away from, and the first season itself had several beloved characters go in shocking fashion. In every consequent season, there were several deaths that impacted the show greatly. While many of these deaths were permanent, tvd jo, some were of tvd jo more temporary nature.

Jo was born in as the eldest daughter of Joshua Parker , leader of the Gemini Coven , and twin sister of Kai , a siphoner.

Joshua Parker was recurring character of The Vampire Diaries. In a flashback, it is revealed that his son, Malachai , killed four of his siblings and attempted to kill his youngest twin siblings, Luke and Liv , to become the rightful leader of the Coven. In order to prevent him from gaining power, Mr. Parker trapped Malachai in a Prison World. He was killed, along with the rest of the coven, when Kai killed himself after merging with his brother Luke and becoming the new leader of the coven. Joshua was a member of the Parker Family , and was also a member and former leader of the Gemini Coven. He was presumably born in Portland, Oregon, as a member of the Gemini coven. Somewhere in the early s, he performed the Merge ceremony with his twin to determine who would become leader of the coven, and he ultimately won, killing his brother and absorbing his twin's magical powers and possibly several of his personality traits.

These two first met in I'll Remember. They later started dating and quickly fell in love with each other, despite Jo's history with her twin brother , Kai Parker and the Gemini Coven complicating things between them. Months into their relationship, it is revealed that Jo is pregnant with Alaric's baby. This baby later turns out to be their unborn twin daughters, which immediately puts Jo in danger due to Gemini Coven's traditions regarding twins. When Alaric and Jo later decide to get married, they hold their wedding in a barn. However, before their final vows, Kai suddenly shows up and stabs Jo, killing her and their babies, as part of his revenge plot against the people who trapped him in his Prison World not once, but twice. Jo dies a bloody death in Alaric's arms. After this, Alaric falls into an obvious state of mourning as he searches for ways to possibly resurrect Jo.

Walking its halls, she finds Alaric speaking with Caroline over the phone and, calling out to him, she gains his startled attention. Jo drives him across the Mystic Falls border and it is revealed Damon did compel him, but he didn't want to believe his own friend would compel him. Kai tries to leave, but Luke magically pulls him and they start. Alaric and Jo first met in I'll Remember. Fortunately, the three babies all survived their mothers' deaths, as Sarah was saved by the doctors at the hospital and Lizzie and Josie were transferred to Caroline Forbes ' womb. Jo then dies during all of the chaos going on. This death was shocking on multiple levels: Kai was Jo's brother, and she was pregnant when he deliberately tried to kill her and her babies. Alaric tells his daughters that his office is off limits as he continues to assess Jo's resurrection with Emma and Dorian. Jo soon finds out that the Ascendant is gone and asks Alaric where it is, but figures out Damon compelled him. Josie interrupts and asks how she met her dad. In Season Seven , it is revealed that he has been paying a morgue to keep her body preserved.

Even worse, Bonnie didn't let her friends get to know that she was gone, and they continued their college lives without her. Sadly, Bonnie became the sacrificial lamb of TVD , with multiple deaths and disappearances throughout. That is also the reason behind Caroline's absence, that she's following some lead. In Christmas Through Your Eyes , Jo tells Alaric she'll be late and sees the patient until the other doctor she's with collapses. Yet she kisses him for the first time; this proved that Jo can't be compelled. Kai revealed that he spared Jo because she was his "favorite sister. Jo comforts her daughters, reiterating that like them, she's a witch and they believe in the natural order of thing and she shouldn't be here. Later on in the episode, she is seen at a college party; she walks up to Alaric who has a flask of blood in his hand. Jo seems overjoyed by this news but soon changes her face when she quickly responds with where's the ascendant, and that it needs to be destroyed because she didn't want her father getting his hands on it. As Jo and Josie walk the grounds, chatting about who loves whom, Jo collapses on the ground and taken over by an unknown presence. Damon accuses her for having an advantage because she is a witch but she says that she works hard and doesn't practice magic, and later mentions that she relinquished hers for safe keeping to separate herself from a 'tragically dysfunctional' family.
