This is a little gem of a show — provided you do like low-key, slice-of-life things. I also liked that Show also takes time to focus on the friendships that our characters share. Feeling like the invisible sixth member of the friend group was definitely a highlight of my watch too, aside from the very cute and very sweet OTP stuff. Warm, sweet, comforting, and perfect for a binge on a rainy day — or as a drama nightcap, to put you in the right mind space for warm, sweet, comforting dreams. The reason this show came onto my radar, is because I came across folks talking about how viewers who struggle with the setup and story of Hidden Love review here! There were just lots of praises for this show for being sweet, slurpy, well-written and just pretty special, all-around. And then there are some romcoms that are a little less glossy and a little more earthy, even though they still qualify as romcoms?

Su's mother came over and asked Su Zaizai what he needed, and Su Zaizai was thinking about it. Next, she said that she needed a pair of shoes. Su's mother said that she had just bought this pair of shoes, and Su Zaizai said coquettishly about the new year's new atmosphere, and regarded it as a New Year's gift for herself. Su's mother couldn't bear to refuse her daughter's request, so she agreed. Su Zaizai immediately pouted to her father. Su's father came over knowingly and said that he needed a belt. Although Su's mother gave him a supercilious look, she still said to help him in a while. Su Zaizai was chatting with Zhang Lurang. Before the holiday, the two of them promised each other that they would communicate with each other through text messages, and they would reply whenever they sent. In turn, I also find it endearing that Lurang is pretty nice to Zaizai, even though he largely remains reticent. I love how well our OTP-in-waiting communicate so transparently and in such a mature manner, honestly. The way he silently goes to buy her jellies to cheer her up, and then take her sightseeing via cablecar, is such a boyfriend-like thing to do. I find that I really like seeing this semi-couple dynamic thing at work. Seeing that Zhang Lurang is handsome, well-spoken, and has good grades, he feels that he is the ideal type that all young girls expect. Kinda similar to how I felt about Gu Ran, I did find Jiang Jia a little too exaggerated and cartoony at first, but she definitely grew on me as I progressed through my watch, and I particularly felt for her, in terms of her personal journey with regards to her crush. And Lurang shows up and becomes her deskmate for a while, which makes Zaizai super happy, to the point that she seems to forget her just-expressed regrets. They just carry on with their new couple dynamic, never mind who sees it, and I do find that matter-of-factness quite sweet. In turn, I also find it endearing that Lurang is pretty nice to Zaizai, even though he largely remains reticent. It was because of her unreserved faith in me that I thought I should persevere for her. What does surprise me a little bit, in a very good way, is the way Lurang looks at her — and then keeps on looking, while a smile plays at his lips. Seeing that Zhang Lurang is handsome, well-spoken, and has good grades, he feels that he is the ideal type that all young girls expect. On the way back home, a group of aunts and uncles discussed Su Zaizai coming home with a boy. But also, how could he be mad at Zaizai, with that sheepish, adorable smile that she gives him, while promptly admitting she was wrong, and apologizing? News, being arrested by her father on business, she felt a little resentful in her heart, and what she didn't expect was that the person she and her father paid New Year's greetings to was the Gu family. I like that. I just love — LOVE!
